Wise use of Gen AI tool

When it comes to Gen AI, I could hear people talking about Claude, ChatGPT so on and so forth, but I seldom hear people mention MS Copilot as if this Gen AI piece from Microsoft like never exists???!!!

I am not saying I love MS Copilot a lot, but it is the default Gen AI Tool allowed by my organization, as here we are almost fully on Microsoft Stack for work! Outlook for emails, Teams for internal and even external real time communication and Sharepoint for document management.

And recently I discovered the advantage of using the default Gen AI option of my work stack - it really tracks how i work every hour every minute every second and is able to generate pretty good summary for my performance! This is feasible because I always discuss stuff over Teams , so you can imagine how much detailed work history are there in Teams, not to mention the work emails and those docs I created and upload to Sharepoint.

September is the month to review first half performance, and I was able to produce a good summary of my team contributions and my key contributions to the team contributions pretty easily and quick! This will not be possible in the past without the help from Gen AI. MS Copilot did quite a great job for me here. So sometimes no need to pursue for what's the best in the market, if there is already a tool that serves the current need well, just use it! Don't fall for the brand name trap!

It's been a while!

Wow it's really been a while I last put up something here!

Don't worry, I might seem to be focusing on teaching people on 9-second-step Intention Manifestation, buy I am still in the IT industry!

Why? I need this job to continue to test my 9-second-step Intention Manifestation!

Anyway, as you know, I have been into the Management for quite some years. Below is what I exactly do these days:

“I’ve been an SRE Engineering Manager since 2020 and have operated successfully across different organisational models — first under Support and now under Platform within EMAP. Over time, my role has evolved beyond people management into driving platform reliability outcomes, reducing operational risk, and leading EMAP‑level automation and standardisation initiatives.”

People & Leadership

  • Successfully managing a geographically distributed SRE team across EMAP
  • Applying balanced performance assessment using WHAT + HOW
  • Coaching engineers with different seniority levels and risk profiles
  • Creating psychological safety and improving communication maturity within the team

Platform & Reliability

  • Ownership of platform reliability outcomes rather than reactive support
  • Driving proactive initiatives (monitoring improvements, patching visibility, automation)
  • Leading automation efforts that reduce operational toil and improve consistency

Organisational Impact

  • Contributing to EMAP‑wide tooling, standards, and operational improvements
  • Operating effectively across different organisational models (Support → Platform)
  • Partnering across Platform, Service Operations, and regional teams

Readiness for Next‑Level Scope

Already demonstrating behaviors aligned to senior leadership roles:

  • Strategic delegation and talent development based on capability and risk
  • Platform‑level thinking (resilience, consistency, operational efficiency)
  • Ability to operate across ambiguity and organisational change
  • Credibility with engineers and stakeholders across regions

Primary gap is scope, not capability.
